The Sub-Centre of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University at village Peth, Latur is unique of its kind within the state of Maharashtra for its origin, infrastructure, academic competency and sensitivity towards social responsibility.

The Sub-Centre was initiated in the academic year 2007-08 by the Govt. of Maharashtra on the recommendation of the management of the University and of public demand to encourage, to support and to nourish the students of Latur region in specialized courses after Graduation. Because, otherwise, many of the students of this region discontinue higher studies due to several natural and social reasons and those who are partially potential, they move to other cities to complete their higher education with difficulty. The Govt. of Maharashtra state has provided the required land, financial support to construct the main building and salary grants to 44 staff for the functioning of the Sub-Centre at Latur.

Director

Professor Rajesh Shinde with 25 years of teaching and 15 years of research occurrence is holding as Director, S.R.T.M. University, Sub Campus, Latur and Professor & Head, School of Management Sciences, S.R.T.M. University, Sub Campus, Latur. Prior to this he had worked at educations institutes such as S.B. Arts and Commerce College, Aurangabad, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and Mumbai University Mumbai.

A Research Awardee of UGC (100 Scientist) was awarded to him. Professor Rajesh Shinde had visit 21 countries and has presented papers, worked as Chairman for technical sessions at the International Conferences. He has to his credit 34 research papers, 10 books and book chapters published at International/National level, also accomplished two Major Research Projects of UGC. He is being certified by CMI certification in Management & Leadership with level 5 grade by the British Council, India & Dudley College London, U.K.

Vision

Women’s Studies Centre aims to promote Gender Equality through teaching,research, extension activities, publication and documentation focussing on different strata of the society especially from Marathwada Region and try to create a more gender just society.

Mission

The Centre has adopted interdisciplinary academic approach which has addressed the concept of gender, construction of gender in society, gender identity, gender representation gender and development issues.The Centre aims to organise different programmes related to gender sensitization, gender development and women’s empowerment .Keeping in mind that the gender sensitization create the necessary base for balanced perspective on social structure, the centre intends to initiate and implement appropriate teaching course, curriculum development, research and extension activities. Apart from introducing academic programmes it will also be involved in micro–level field studies and awareness generation programmes.

Our Facilities

Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University’s Ambi rumpus is known for its great location, verdant environment, and fully equipped campus with an exclusive multi- sports stadium.. This has engendered a holistic culture that is intellectually stimulating and conducive to physical fitness.

The Central Library

It has 497.37 sq m area to accommodate stack room(s), reference room, reading halls, counters, Asstt. Librarian’s cabin, office and WCs. It is managed by a qualified Asstt. Librarian and other supporting staff. The regular activities of the library are computerized. There are 6050 books of about 2900 titles available to students and staff. About 26 magazines/periodicals, 20 research journals and 07 News papers are regularly procured by the library (Data as on 15th September 2015).

Placement Unit –

There is a placement unit at the Sub-Centre to coordinate the project work and placement activities of all the students. It is assisted by senior faculties. The placement officer of the university provides inputs to this unit too. Accordingly, Industrial houses, Firms, Financial institutions, Banks, NGOs, Academic/Research institutions and other private recognized organizations are invited to interact with the students for selection, training and recruitment.

Students’ Recreation Halls

There are separate recreation halls for Boys and girls provided with Newspapers, magazines and table games.

Fees, Scholarships, Stipend and Earn & Learn scheme benefits

All admissions are made as per merit and reservation rules and Fees of every course is collected as per notification of the university (published in the annual prospectus) with Free ship, scholarship and stipend benefits to eligible students as per Govt. Of Maharashtra and Govt. Of India’s provisions. Economically poor students are enrolled under Earn & Learn scheme to partially support their financial requirements.

Committee oriented administration

In order to effectively coordinate and administer the academic, curricular, extra-curricular, co-curricular, social, sports and environmental friendly activities within the Sub-Centre premises and to facilitate the students in their preparation, participation and developmental endeavours, different committees comprising of teachers, nonteaching staff and student representatives are formed every year under the Chairmanship of the Director.

A committee comprising Professors and administrative officers to monitor the discipline and grievances of the students throughout the year, especially to maintain the Women dignity and antiragging is organized every year.
